BIO

Originally from O'ahu, Chenta Laury is a Maui-based artist and educator. She has exhibited in shows throughout the country and her work is held in numerous private collections, including the Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, as well as in the Hawai'i State Art Museum in Honolulu. 

Chenta received an undergraduate degree in studio art and art history from Oberlin College, a Masters from Harvard University, and a Certificate in Applied Arts from the Fiber Crafts Studio in Chestnut Ridge, NY.

Awards include: 2021 Diane Chen Koch Weser Award for Collaborative Work at the Hawai’i Craftsmen Statewide Exhibition; Juror’s Choice Award at 2015 “10x10” (Gabriel Anderman and Tim Garcia), Hui No’eau; People’s Choice Award, Runner-Up at 2015 “Schaefer Portrait Challenge”, Schaefer Gallery; Juror’s Choice Award at “Annual Juried Exhibition 2015" (Charles Cohan), Hui No'eau; and People’s Choice Award at "Mālama Wao Akua 2012", Viewpoints Gallery.
