Originally from O’ahu, Chenta Laury is a Maui-based artist whose practice uses natural materials and merges heritage, process, and concept to explore themes of belonging, adaptation, and transformation. Laury holds a BA in art history/studio art from Oberlin College, a master’s from Harvard University, and a Certificate in Applied Arts from the Fiber Crafts Studio. She has exhibited in the Hawai‘i Triennial (HB2019), the Honolulu Museum of Art, and the Schaefer International Gallery. Her work is held in public and private collections including the Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, Howard Hughes Corporation, Capital Modern and the Hawai‘i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts.
